The Punjab government has announced the Ehsaas Bahimat Buzurg 2021 program. Registration will begin after 23 November 2020. After the registration process starts through the new Bahimat Buzurg Program launch, all senior citizens will be provided with a social pension of Rs. 2000 by the Punjab government. Seniors will be able to receive a stipend of Rs. 2000 per month.
Bahimat Buzurg will pay Rs 2,000 a month to beneficiaries with a poverty rate below 20. In the beginning, Rs 2 billion was allocated to a program led by the Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA) and will benefit 125,000 people in Punjab who are not receiving other social assistance programs. Punjab Chief Minister and Program Chairman Ehsaas Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the Bahimat Buzurg program at the Punjab Social Welfare Directorate. Addressing the event on Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said the initial amount of Rs. 2 billion would be distributed by the Punjab government to 150,000 older people through Bahimat Buzurg cards.
Bahimat Buzurg Program 2020-21 – Selection Criteria
- Only seniors living below the poverty line 18, 16, and 30 years old will be included in this Bahimat Buzurg program, while only one person in the family will be eligible.
- Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 would be paid to dignified seniors aged 65 and over in Punjab.
- The program gives priority to women. In the absence of a woman, her elderly husband will be eligible for a scholarship.
In the case of a social pension, Rs. Six thousand will be issued every three months. Registration camps will be set up at every tehsil level in the province. Due to the coronavirus, less than 150 people should be called to the center per day.
How to apply for the Ehsaas Bahimat Buzurg 2020-21 program
Three registration centers have been established in the Multan area, including Aligarh College Gulgasht, Shujaabad Committee Hall, and Jinna Hall Jalalpur Parwala Hall. Yesterday, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak, a meeting was held to consider the registration procedure in the Multan region. Speaking to the audience, Deputy Commissioner Amir Khattak said that the registration process for the Bakhimat Buzurg program would last three months.
A mechanism should be established to call people from a single council or circle of trade unions daily, and police / civil defense volunteers should be located at the registration center. The registration center will house employees of the Bank of Punjab and the Social Security Department, and ATM cards will be issued to pensioners instead of cash.
